‘He doesn’t bother Max,’ F1 pundit claims Sergio Perez the ‘perfect driver’ to partner Max Verstappen

Sergio Perez joined Red Bull in 2021 to partner Max Verstappen . The Mexican driver has won a handful of races since then. However, Checo has failed to even come close to his world champion teammate. Rumors have emerged that Milton Keynes could sack the 34-year-old. Now, F1 presenter Martin Brundle reckoned that Perez was the ideal teammate to Verstappen.

Brundle pointed out that it was economically beneficial for Red Bull to retain Perez for next season. The Mexican driver had immense experience and would not crash the car often. Moreover. the F1 presenter emphasized that Sergio Perez does not bother Max Verstappen on-track. As the Dutchman comfortably outperforms the 34-year-old.

I think it is economically very useful for Red Bull to have Sergio Perez in the car. has a lot of experience, he is not one of those who often crash into barriers, and it doesn’t bother Max.

Martin Brundle said, as reported by FormulaPassion.it

Martin Brundle claimed that for the time being, Perez was the perfect driver to race alongside Max Verstappen at Milton Keynes. Team Principal Christian Horner had revealed that at least 16 drivers wanted to take Checo’s seat for 2025. Daniel Ricciardo would’ve been the prime candidate for this seat. However, the Australian driver has struggled this season.

At the moment it is the perfect driver on that seat.

Martin Brundle reveals the reason for Sergio Perez’s stay at Red Bull

Despite failing to match Verstappen, Sergio Perez has remained with the Austrian team till now. Albeit, the Mexican driver has faced pressure from Milton Keynes in recent months. Nevertheless, Checo has managed to keep his seat. However, it was reported that Perez’s demand for a two-year deal was laughed off by Red Bull leadership.

Brundle claimed that Perez’s ability to adapt to Red Bull machinery was the reason for his stay. The Mexican driver has managed to deliver consistent results despite facing a performance slump last season. Martin Brundle insisted that unless a driver could beat Perez in this regard, the 34-year-old would be the best pick to partner Max Verstappen.

There’s a reason Checo has been in that car for so long, and it’s because adapts to Red Bull and what it needs in this moment. I don’t think this has changed unless they think there is someone else who can seize the opportunity

Martin Brundle concluded

Sergio Perez is yet to earn an extension from Red Bull for next season. The Mexican driver would be looking to fight Max Verstappen for race wins this season to solidify his place at Milton Keynes. However, this could be a challenge for Checo as Verstappen continues to perform at his peak. Fans would be looking forward to seeing how things pan out for Perez at the Austrian team.
