Best MLB strikeout bets: 3 strikeout props for Thursday 6/8

We've got another full slate of baseball on deck for Thursday afternoon and night, which means we've got a fresh three-pack of strikeout props ready to fire. Here are my three favorite K props for Thursday's MLB slate.

Zack Wheeler over 7.5 Ks

I targeted Zack Wheeler's strikeout prop at 8.5 yesterday, but the Philadelphia Phillies' game against the Detroit Tigers was postponed due to harmful air conditions. Well, Wheeler is scheduled to start against the Tigers today, and his K prop is now 7.5 instead of 8.5. I'll gladly take the sudden discount against a Detroit team that struck out 26 times in the first two games of this series.

Justin Verlander under 5.5 Ks

Justin Verlander hasn't been the same strikeout expert this season that he's been for most of his career. The veteran righty has cleared 5.5 Ks in just two of his six starts this year, and his strikeout percentage of 20.6 percent is his worst mark since the 2014 season. I don't see him clearing this number against an Atlanta Braves team that's lit up opposing pitchers for 6.5 runs per game over its last four contests.

Reid Detmers under 6.5 Ks

This line immediately stood out as one strikeout too high. In 10 starts this season, Reid Detmers has recorded seven or more strikeouts just four times. He's cleared this line in one of his last four starts, and now he has to go up against a Chicago Cubs team that's been extremely effective at running up pitch counts and chasing starters early. Over the last 14 days, the Cubs rank sixth in the MLB in K percentage (19 percent). I'm fine laying -150 here.
