Report: Bucks HC Doc Rivers hoping to raid rival team's coaching staff
Milwaukee Bucks HC Doc Rivers Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

Doc Rivers apparently has his eye on a specific coach to join his Milwaukee Bucks staff.

NBA reporter Marc Stein wrote in a column published on Wednesday that Rivers is trying to get Sam Cassell to join the Bucks.

Cassell is an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics. He also is said to be a candidate for the Los Angeles Lakers head-caoching job.

Cassell might have an opportunity to move up the ranks in Boston after top Celtics assistant Charles Lee was hired by the Charlotte Hornets. The chance to work with Rivers again could also be appealing, though.

Cassell coached under Rivers with the Clippers from 2014-20 and with the Philadelphia 76ers from 2020-23.

The 54-year-old former point guard is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Celtics. Boston had the best record in the NBA during the regular season.
