New York Knicks guard Miles McBride will return to the lineup on Sunday against the Chicago Bulls after missing their last game due to an illness. CBS Sports revealed McBride’s injury status on Saturday ahead of their Eastern Conference matchup. The extent of the defensive stopper’s illness has not been revealed by the team.
McBride has blossomed into a reliable contributor for Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau since receiving a larger role in the rotation on Jan. 13. Particularly, the 23-year-old has excelled over his last 13 games, averaging 15.8 points, three assists, and 1.2 steals per contest. He’s done so on 47.1% shooting from the field.
The West Virginia product has improved leaps and bounds as an outside shooter this year. He’s taken his three-point percentage from 28.2% in his rookie and sophomore seasons combined to 40.9% in the 2023-24 campaign. He’s shot an even better 42.2% in catch-and-shoot opportunities.
“Deuce” McBride has produced on both ends of the floor. He’s been instrumental in the Knicks’ stability in the win-loss column of late. They’ll need his two-way contributions against a Bulls backcourt with Most Improved Player of the Year frontrunner Coby White and two-way star Alex Caruso both healthy for Sunday’s action.
